The Story

Harley sniffs the prairie wind and declares it smells like sunshine and pancakes. Dad laughs, pointing to distant foothills — a promise that the Rockies are just ahead. They wander boardwalks, crunch gravel under boots and paws, and watch evening light pour over fields like melted gold.

In the mountains, a lake lies still as glass. Harley peers in and sees a very handsome dog staring back. Dad promises extra biscuits for bravery, and together they pad along the shore, tiny in the shadow of ancient stone and sky.

Plushie of the Chapter

Bruce the Bison plushie
Bruce the Bison

Big, fuzzy, and calm-eyed, Bruce carries the patience of the plains. He moves slow, thinks deep, and believes the best snacks are the ones you share with friends.

Harley first saw Bruce standing proud against the skyline and whispered, "Whoa." Dad nodded. Some places ask for quiet voices and wide eyes — Alberta’s grasslands are one of them. Bruce joined the family as a reminder to breathe, to look far, and to keep going steady.

Harley's note: "Bruce is like a walking hug. Ten out of ten, would nap against again."
